Chiropractic Without A Doubt Program Perfect Combination of Science and Technique

Chiropractic Without a Doubt Comes to Seattle June 14-15!  The vital role of the vertebral subluxation complex in today’s health care setting and how to explain it to patients using communications technology will highlight the Chiropractic Without a Doubt seminar to be presented to chiropractors, students and staff in Seattle June 14-15, 2003.  Dr Steve Hoffman and myself will show how integrating the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic will help the chiropractor better understand the VSC and thus be better equipped to educate patients and the public from the perspective of the subluxation-based practice.

Included in the course content will be:

• A demonstration of current technology, such as using computer aided presentation techniques to quantify the VSC and then communicate the findings to patients.

• In addition, a segment will be introduced on using clinical protocols and professional guidelines to help the practitioner defend his care against demands for medical rationale.

• Review the models of chiropractic technique and delivering the adjustment with that “extra something”

• Know about the classical and contemporary models of the VSC;

• Apply clinical reasoning with chiropractic applications in the practice setting

• Understand the modern technologies for neurophysiological and biomechanical assessment of the subluxation

ICA Elections

The ICA Membership has spoken and the ICA has a new leadership team.  The voting members of the International Chiropractors Association have chosen Dr. C. J. Mertz as the Association’s President for the next two years. Dr. Mertz, from Dripping Springs, Texas, becomes the 14th President of the ICA, an organization founded in 1926 by Dr. B.J. Palmer. Dr. Fred H. Barge, well-known author, lecturer and former ICA President in his own right, has been elected Vice President for a comparable term and Dr. Christopher Quigley of Boston, Massachusetts, has been elected ICA’s Secretary-Treasurer.

In elections for United States Regional Director positions, ICA members in four geographic regions vote for their regional director.  As a result Dr. Elliot Foster was re-elected as the Northeastern Regional Director, and Dr. John Maltby was elected to the position of Western Regional Director.  Dr. Brian Flannery and myself were unopposed in our contests for Central and Southern Regional Directors respectively. All four regional directors will serve for a period of four years. Dr. Claudia Sandino of Valencia, Spain was re-elected to a two-year term as ICA's International Regional Director by ICA's Representative Assembly, which convened in their Annual Meeting along with ICA's Board of Directors, in Kansas City.

I applaud all these dedicated doctors as I know that these positions require much work and get little gratitude.  I support our new ICA elected officials and call upon all subluxation based DCs to join ICA in our movement to take chiropractic to the masses.  I also want to point out that ICA is the most democratic association in our profession. 

Using Bulk Mailing Feature for "Stroke Scare" Attack.

In the last issue of The Information Age, I spoke about usages of the NYK bulk mailing feature where you can mail your patient list a letter.  Since then, one such occasion has occurred in many areas in North America.  As most of you may already know, there is another round of bogus science making the press based on a fantasy science report in the May 13 study in the Journal Neurology.  (Abstract of article can be seen here, full article available only by subscription) This article is the perfect example of junk science and the "pot calling the kettle black".  Chiropractic remains the safest form of healthcare available with the least risk to the consumer.
