Riekeman
Goes To Life University
Dr. Guy Riekeman is coming to Life University! In an announcement expected today, (Thursday March 4, 2004) Dr. Guy Riekeman will be taking over the helm at Life University. Dr. Riekeman formerly the President, then Chancellor of Palmer recently resigned as a result of disagreements with the Board of Trustees. Since that point many at Life were hoping that there would be some way that Dr. Riekeman could come to Life University.
Dr. Guy, as many call him, was credited throughout the profession with a rejuvenation of Palmer and was the major reason for a huge increase in enrollment, and donations. Many Palmer alumni, as well as other supporters, have stated that they will discontinue financial support if Riekeman was not reinstated. It remains to be seen if these donors will now switch their support to Life University now that Dr. Guy is there.
For Life University the news comes at a critical time. The enrollment and money at Life were severely down. The lack of enrollment created a financial crisis that threatened their accreditation status with the regional accrediting agency. This news may spark an enrollment spike, and donation increase that could just make the difference.
At this writing it is too early to judge the reaction either at Life University or Palmer. As news breaks we will post releases and articles on our student resource site, www.dc2be.com.

and Satirists Chime in on Palmer - Riekeman Situation
Maybe chiropractic has hit the big time for the wrong reasons. The recent events at Palmer with the resignation of Dr. Guy Riekeman ( and now his moving to Life U) have brought the general media, and the satirists into the discussion. One such cartoon appeared in the Quad City Times opinion section of that local paper. In this cartoon it appears that Vickie Palmer is about to give Dr. Riekeman an adjustment with an axe. Palmer over the bodies of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson from the infamous
Super Bowl "costume malfunction". Not since the turmoil and removal of Dr.
Sid Williams from Life, has the press and those who add humor to news had such a
field day.
This latest round of news has caught not only the chiropractic profession by storm, but has peaked the interest of the local newspapers. We are keeping a running tally of the news and information on this situation on the student resource website www.dc2be.com .
A recent poll held on DC2BE.com showed overwhelming support for Dr Riekeman and a large negative reaction toward the Palmer Board. The results of that poll can be reviewed by clicking here. The poll was even reported in the Quad City times and can be viewed here. With Dr. Riekeman's new leadership at Life, it seems one school's loss is another ones gain.
