Dr. John Maltby Elected New ICA President

Dr. John Maltby became the 15th president of the International Chiropractors Association after his election this past weekend.  Dr. John won with over 2/3rds of the vote and assumed office at the close of the ICA annual meetings this past Saturday.  In his, "lets get to work" style, Dr. John, gave his acceptance speech wearing jeans and boots to symbolize his desire to get right to work in building the ICA. 

Also taking office was Dr. Dan Murphy, who was elected to his own term as vice president without opposition. Dr. Murphy was previously elected by the ICA Board of directors as Vice-President after the death of Dr. Fred Barge.

Dr. Gary Walsemann was also unanimously re-elected as ICA Secretary-Treasurer and will begin his own two year term as well.  Dr. Walsemann had been previously elected by the ICA Board in December of 2004 to fill the vacated position due to a resignation.

In addition, Dr. Michael McLean (right) was named "ICA Chiropractor of the Year" by the Distinguished Fellows of the ICA. Although he received the award this year, has been a tireless worker for years. This year Dr. McLean, a longtime member of ICA's Board of Directors was invited to sit on the Chiropractic Health Care Benefits Advisory Committee by the Department of Defense. In a letter to Dr. McLean, Deputy Director Richard Mayo wrote, “I hope you will find it possible to accept this invitation and give us the benefit of your valued counsel. I believe you will be able to contribute advice and recommendations regarding the continued development and implementation of an effective program of chiropractic health care benefits for members of the uniformed services on active duty.”

Also at the Annual Meeting of the ICA Representative Assembly, the election for the position of International Regional Director was held. Dr. Pinchas Noyman of Israel was elected by the Assembly Representatives present to fill that position. The Representative Assembly of the ICA also elected its officers for a two year term. The successful candidates for those positions were Dr. Gene Cretsinger, as Chairperson; Dr. Brad Robinson, as Vice Chair; and Dr. Alan Lichter, as Secretary.

Coalition Legislative Day Huge Success

In one of the most stunning shows of chiropractic political influence, hundreds of Doctors of Chiropractic were present when Senators Orrin Hatch and Ted Kennedy addressed the Chiropractic Coalition in succession.  Both politicians noted that it is rare for members of opposing parties to be addressing the same group.  They shared some friendly barbs as each took the stage to address the group and speak to the importance of chiropractic legislation.

The presence of these two political giants at the same chiropractic event at the same time did not go un-noticed.  Dr. Michael MacLean, ICA Legislative Chairman reminded those present of the historic and profound importance of this event.   He told the group, "When Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch both are in a room speaking to a group such as ours at the same time, everyone up on the hill knows about it in less than an hour."

Following the numerous appearances by various members of congress, hundreds of Chiropractors from the ICA, the WCA and the FSCO descended on their Senators and Congressman's offices to promote the Chiropractic Coalition's legislative agenda.

Now You Know Website Service Features 5 New Templates

The names of the new templates are: the Monarch, Circles, Deco, Changeling, and Axis.  All these new templates feature our latest designs and technology as well as our ever-growing volume of top-grade educational material. 

To view these for yourself, just go to our website at www.nowyouknow.net, and click on the button at the left for "Website Service".  When the new page appears, scroll down the page to the feature that says "33 Web Themes to Choose" and select it.  On that new page you will see the new templates as the top five.  Clicking on any of the thumbnail pictures will open a full size and function sample of that website template.

Current website service subscribers who may wish to change their template selection can do so by submitting a request as normal using their access to NYK Central.
