Billboard and Website Blast Chiropractic The above is an actual picture of a billboard placed by a group called "neck911". The obvious anti-chiropractic message and website is an attempt to suggest that chiropractic is unsafe. The website, www.neck911usa.com does not clearly identify who is paying for this message or who is promoting it. The good new is that the billboard that was unveiled on June 6, 2005 was covered up by the advertising company within 24-hours of the International Chiropractors Association’s (ICA) learning of its existence, following a storm of protest led by ICA leaders in that state. Within hours emails were flying and calls were being made to the billboard company fast and furiously. ICA President Dr. John Maltby reacted quickly mobilizing chiropractors in Connecticut and nation wide. He expressed his concern that this issue is probably not an isolated one. “This is not an issue of free speech. This is a matter of conscious deception for anti-competitive reasons that is akin to the famous ‘Crying fire in a crowded theatre.’ This kind of behavior is simply outside the protections that we all cherish and respect and ICA will fight this unethical, offensive and inappropriate effort with all the resources at its command, and they will be defeated.” He then issue a statement urging all chiropractors to be on their guard; "ICA STRONGLY URGES ALL DCs, STUDENTS, PATIENTS AND CONCERNED CITIZENS NATIONWIDE TO MAINTAIN A VIGILANT WATCH FOR SIMILAR ANTI-CHIROPRACTIC PUBLIC DISPLAYS AND IMMEDIATELY CALL ICA AT 1-800-423-4690 SHOULD OTHER SUCH MESSAGES BE SIGHTED." The billboard was reportedly paid for by a woman in Connecticut who has her own group called the "Chirostroke Awareness Group." The website neck911usa.com, however, is still online. Gone Phishing? One of the most dangerous and effective email and Internet scams around today is called "Phishing". This scam involves an email that seems to come from your bank, credit card company or other trusted source, and says something like, "We have recently experienced an attempted security problem with our systems. Please click here to verify your information is safe. The link then brings up your bank's legitimate website in the background and a pop-up box then appears in the foreground asking you to verify your user ID, password, social security number, or some other important bit of information. The scam here is that the pop-up box, or in some case the entire website is a fake, is not from your bank, and it is Internet criminals waiting for your information. Once you fill out the form and hit the submit button, they got you! This form of a scam was so ingenious that it was estimated that a full 25% of those receiving the phishing email thought it was legitimate and filled it out. Huge numbers of people were ripped off by this tactic. The company "PayPal" had many of their customers victimized by this scam so they developed a page to inform the public on this issue. Click here to see their warning. To help with this situation we are providing these links that also explain more about this problem: |

Even though our website, newsletter, and Echiropractic services are very in depth, we make using them very easy. In addition to this, our drive for excellence in customer service is never ending. We have introduced, and are currently expanding our "Interactive Lessons Section" of our online manual. This section is as simple as "click and watch". In this area we are continuing to add more of the common questions raised by our subscribers. All you have to do is click and learn. Health News Each month, we at Now You Know review hundreds of articles on health and chiropractic in order to find the few that we write up for our patient newsletter service. Unfortunately, there are always dozens of good health articles that do not make it into the NYK Patient newsletter that our subscriber's patients receive. This section of the Information Age will be the place where we list these articles and link to them.
