Life University Gets CCE Accreditation for 7 Years

Life University has received full accreditation from The Council on Chiropractic Education's (CCE) Commission on Accreditation effective November 21, 2005. An announcement placed on the CCE website stated: The Council on Chiropractic Education Commission on Accreditation held a meeting on November 12, 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona. The following Accreditation actions were taken: Accreditation of Life University College of Chiropractic, Doctor of Chiropractic Program; Marietta, GA.

According to the CCE website, Life University will not have its next regularly scheduled comprehensive evaluation site visit for 7 years until the fall of 2012.  The CCE website also curiously states: "Continuously accredited since: June 1985" in the listing for Life University.

This concludes a saga that has seen many changes at Life University including the removal of it's founder, Dr. Sid Williams, the loss of 80% of it's student population, a successful injunction against CCE to retain accreditation, and three presidential changes concluding with the appointment of Dr. Guy Riekeman as the latest president.

The school has been growing over the past year and has just once again gone over the 1000 mark in the DC enrollment.

Now You Know Special Thanksgiving

I wanted to take a moment and thank all those who have been with us over the past year.  We at NYK have had a lot to be thankful for.  We have been privileged and blessed to spread the chiropractic message to hundreds of thousands of patients and potential patients.

We now are handling the web and newsletters for well over a thousand offices and for many state and national groups as well.  The ICA has entrusted their website to NYK and we have offered them many new and exciting features.

The staff at NYK has been especially helpful to me and the doctors we service.  I want to thank them as well for they are the backbone of our organization.

Life will always present challenges and hurdles designed to make us stronger.  However, in the larger picture, I consider us blessed to be in this profession and very fortunate to work with and service so many wonderful doctors and their offices.

In my early years in practice, I could not have dreamed I would have the chance to get the chiropractic message out to so many people.  Through the vehicle of Now You Know and the technology of the Internet, we are reaching more people, and changing more lives than I ever could have imagined.  I for one, have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Bob Braile DC
President Now You Know

Who's the Man? - World's Biggest Chiropractic Practice!

One of the questions that is usually asked in the chiropractic profession is, "Who has the biggest practice?"  This is usually whispered by some while scorned by others. The curiosity of who sees the most people has been something that has been asked since the earliest days of private practice.

Recently certain officials in chiropractic have suggested that volume practices are bad for the general public and our profession.  This supposition seems to suggest that the people who go to a volume practice somehow are not smart enough to decide for themselves what is in their best interest. I've always been of the opinion that no one forces anyone to go to any particular chiropractor. So if large numbers are going to someone's office they do so because they are very pleased with the service they receive.

The question of volume has a definitive answer at present.  The largest chiropractic practice is presently run by a solo practitioner.  His name is Dr. Rob Schiffman, and he practices in South Bend, Indiana.  He presently sees over 3700 visits per week and has seen as many as 1400 people in one day!  (No typo, those are the numbers).  If it seems impossible, let me say that I have been there, and have seen him do it.

To share his gift, Dr Rob has started a program for other DCs called "Get the Big Idea".  With a practice as large as his, this new seminar endeavor is not something he is doing for financial gain as he makes quite a bit more in practice then he could ever make at seminars. But Rob's desire to share his love for his faith based practice and life has led him to do these programs.  For those interested in getting more information you can visit his website at www.getthebigidea.com.

Health News

Each month, we at Now You Know review hundreds of articles on health and chiropractic in order to find the few that we write up for our patient newsletter service. Unfortunately, there are always dozens of good health articles that do not make it into the NYK Patient newsletter that our subscriber's patients receive. This section of the Information Age will be the place where we list these and other interesting health related articles and link to them.
