Assorted Personal Notes
My
Practice:
Several months ago I announced that I was going back
into practice after taking a break for the past 5 years.
I had even picked out a location and was busy setting
up. Well, as a little update I am still looking for a
location. The one building I had signed a lease on had a
problem, the owner had not paid his property taxes. This
meant I could not get a business license.
This is one of those things
that I did not think of checking when I first looked
into the property. I did go to the city, and I asked
about the steps needed to open a practice and get a
business license at this location. It was not until over
a month later, and the spending of money on city fees
that they then told me I could not get a business
license anyway. Had they told me this on day one,
I'd have looked elsewhere. So once again I am looking
for a location in west Cobb / East Paulding County. I'll
keep you updated as I am now very anxious to get back
into active practice.
A

Growing Seminars?
I get to attend a lot of really great programs in my
travels. There are several I enjoy and look forward to
going to on a regular basis. I also hear that many
seminars are experiencing a decrease in attendance over
the last year as the "economic recession" seems to be
affecting them. Well, first of all, I do not buy into
economic news as chiropractic is the more affordable
choice in healthcare, and I know many DCs doing very
well in these times. (read my December story on this
subject
here)
I can not
speak for all programs, but it seems to me that the
philosophically based ones appear to be growing just
fine. The two programs I recently attended,
DE
and
Get The Big Idea,
had larger than normal crowds and are growing! I
look forward to attending the April
New
Beginnings
meeting as I expect that meeting to be growing as well.
I also notice that the doctors whose practices are
growing in these economic times are those who attend
these meetings. Hmmm, this could be a lesson for the
profession. The moral to the story could be, "When times
get tough, we need to return to our philosophical
roots".
Race
Across America (RAAM)
is a
transcontinental bicycle race starting on the west coast
and finishing on the east coast. The race covers 3000
miles across the Rockies, the heartland of America, and
finally the Appalachians. It continues to stand as one
the toughest events in the world and a tribute to human
endurance.
Dr. Anthony Colasurdo, a
chiropractor and NYK doctor is participating in this
event as part of "Drew's Crew" to raise money for a
worthy cause. Now You Know has donated to this race on behalf of Dr. Colasurdo, to
help. If you wish to help you can read the
brochure here. You can visit the main website for
Race Across
America (RAAM) here. The donation / participation
page for Drew's Crew can be found
here.

Students:
I know there are a large number of students who read
this Info Age newsletter. We welcome you. It has always
been a policy of
Now You Know
NOT
to sell products or services to students.
However, since students are near and dear to my heart,
we have created a free forum for students to share their
ideas and experiences.
DC2BE.com
is an open forum with many categories including
schools, technique and student life, where all students
are welcome to participate. We have also linked a
growing number of interesting YouTube videos on
chiropractic and other health issues.
