Adding Sound to Your Chiropractic News Service
Offices
all over the country have added the
Chiropractic News Service
(CNS) to their
offices to bring quality news articles on chiropractic
into their education rooms (formally waiting rooms). The
CNS is a
FREE addition
to the Now You Know website
service.
In my office,
we have had the CNS
on every day, educating patients as they come through
our office. If you are like me, you want music in the
office, but you may not want it in the adjusting or exam
rooms. In my office, the only place I want music is in
the education room.
So, to get
music to play in my education room only, I decided to
use the Internet as a radio and have it play through the
TV that I was using for the CNS.
There are many choices for Internet radio including
Pandora, as well as most local radio stations that now
have live online music. I decided to go with Yahoo music
as I could pick the genre I wanted to play.
Click
here, or on the image above to see a YouTube
demonstration of the CNS
playing in my education room.
To do this
yourself, all you have to do is to open up a browser
window with Yahoo Music, and play their music. Once it
starts playing, you can minimize the Yahoo window and let
it play in the background. If you use a laptop like I
do, you can set up dual monitors so that the
CNS plays on the remote
monitor (the flat screen TV), and your music selection
plays on the laptop. Make sure that you have hooked up
both the VGA cable and the sound cables from your
computer to the TV so the sound plays through the TV and
not the laptop or computer speakers.
Connecticut Stoke Hearings Conclude - Decision
Awaited
Due to pressure by
special interest groups hell bent on linking chiropractic
to stroke in spite of the lack of scientific evidence,
the Connecticut Board of Chiropractic Examiners held
hearings on the subject of stroke . These hearings will
decide on adding a requirement to have all chiropractic
patients sign a waiver that they are aware that
chiropractic adjustments could result in a stroke.
The hearings were
emotional at times when those claiming to be injured by
chiropractors testified. However, there was some key scientific
testimony given that decisively showed that the danger
of a stoke from a chiropractic adjustment is exactly the
same as a visit to a general practitioner. Dr. Gerry Clum in his online
publication "The Latest Stuff" described the
events best since he was actually present at these
hearings. The report below is from Dr. Clum's "The
Latest Stuff" on this subject.
"Not to take anything
away from anyone who has testified previously (myself
included!), the MVP Award in these hearings goes,
without question or even a close second place, to David
Cassidy, D.C., Ph.D., D. M.Sc. for his superb 3.5 hours
on the witness stand. Dr. Cassidy was calm, centered,
confident and in control throughout his entire
presentation.
Dr. Cassidy presented
the testimony of the International Chiropractors
Association. As the lead author of the central study in
the hearing, it was wonderful to be able to have others
stop talking about what the authors meant, considered,
didn't consider, etc., and to hear it from the
proverbial horse's mouth! Congratulations to ICA and all
parties involved, especially Dr. Cassidy, for the
willingness to make this work so effectively.
If you ever wanted a
private tutorial on "how it is supposed to be done in
court", you must take an afternoon and watch every
second of Dr. Cassidy's testimony. My mind is spinning
about how we can take his presentation and include it in
various courses in the Life West curriculum."
You can watch the
testimony online by visiting:

On the left of the
screen, click on "archives" enter the date: January 22,
2010 and click on Board of Chiropractic Examiners, day
4, morning session. You can buy a copy of the
presentation on DVD or VHS for about $30 plus shipping
and handling. If you order it online, be aware it is an
odd system. You order it and then they contact you for
payment-you do not enter payment information when you
order.
Seminars,
Seminars, Seminars
You'd think that with
starting a new practice, I'd not be able to go on the road as
much. Well, to an extent that is true. But, overall there
are still several must-attend programs that I go to
regularly. Coincidentally, it seems that these programs
are all coming up in
the next several weeks. So, here they are in order of
their upcoming dates.
ICA Fitness Council
- The Arnold, March 5-7 Columbus Ohio,
www.chiropractic.org: If you have
never been to this event you need to get to one. Each
year, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hosts his mega-event
at the same time the ICA has their Symposium on Sports &
Fitness. During the ICA program, Gov. Schwarzenegger will
speak at the chiropractic event and then will take a
picture with each chiropractor present! Attendees then
get to take this personal picture home with them. If you
purchase the premium package you get the education, and
great tickets to the Arnold Classic fitness and
bodybuilding events. It is well worth the money.
(Late breaking news is that Sylvester Stallone
will be in attendance this year!)
Get The Big Idea,
March 26-27, Atlanta
www.getthebigidea.com: Dr. Rob
Schiffman hosts one of the most spiritual and powerful
faith-based chiropractic programs around. If you want to
learn from the world's busiest chiropractor, then this
is the program for you.
New Beginnings,
April 16-18, Long Branch NJ,
www.nbchiro.com:
Nothing like strong philosophy with fun and
fellowship. New Beginnings is the place to get your
philosophy batteries charged to help you get back into
your practice and break loose. Founder, Dr. Jim Dubel,
and the NB speakers deliver a power packed weekend that
leave you excited about being a chiropractor.
Dynamic Essential,
"DE", April 29-May2,
www.lifede.com:
Dr. Sid Williams and the DE team speakers
continue to deliver. Numbers at these meetings continue
to grow and they are now hosting the largest meetings in
years! DE is the original home of the blending of
chiropractic principle and success principle that has
helped thousands achieve their dream practices.
As CEO of Now You Know, I
am not forced to choose only one of these great programs
that I want to attend. I plan on being at them all! Hope to
see you there too.
