Happy
Thanksgiving 2010
In This Issue:

Much To Be Thankful For
Each year at this time we
reflect back on all the many blessings we have been
given and try to come up with some words to express our
gratitude. Then the day after Thanksgiving our attention
turns quickly to shopping and the next holiday a month
away. In one quick culinary overindulgence, we move from
thanks, to football to thoughts of shopping and
presents. (There may be a nap in between the food and
the football depending on how much we have eaten.)
One of the things we
rarely think of giving thanks for is the struggle of
being in this profession of chiropractic. When you think
about it, being is chiropractic is not a smart move if
you are looking for an easy life of least resistance.
Think about it. We are a
part of a profession that is not part of the accepted
method of healthcare. We are not well funded, as we do
not have a multi-billion drug industry financing us. The
pharmaceutical industry spends about 3 times more each
year on promotion then chiropractic grosses as a
profession. We have to go out and educate people in all
sorts of ways just to get them to understand and want
our services. Our best educational institutions are
smaller, and gross less money than most neighborhood
hospitals.
With this massive
overmatching, it is a pure miracle that we are still in
existence. And here lies the reason that we should be
very thankful. It has truly been a miracle that
chiropractic has survived 115 years. We have survived
because we have the one thing that our opposition is
lacking. We have the truth. It is this truth that
refuses to die even the face of overwhelming odds and
finance. It is the truth of chiropractic and the innate
ability of the body to heal itself that has allowed us
to continue to serve a sick and suffering humanity.
So in my humble opinion,
it is more important that we be thankful for the
challenges of being in chiropractic, than for the
rewards we enjoy. For we get to work with truth and
miracles every day. What other profession can say that?
Involvement Because We Care
Now You Know started over a decade as
a way to spread the chiropractic message. The services
of NYK were
created out of the pure desire to tell more people about
chiropractic using a communications technology that was
brand new, the Internet. For years in my first
practice I wrote a paper newsletter that I sent out to
thousands of patients and hundreds of chiropractors.
When I relocated to Georgia in the mid 90's, I decided
to use this new technology and so I changed my
newsletters from paper to email. This is how it all
started.
Since then, it has always
remained our overwhelming desire to focus our
NYK services
on what most helps get the chiropractic message out to
as many people as possible. All the services of
NYK have been
created and enhanced out of real office experience.
Being a chiropractor has also fueled our desire to serve
the chiropractic profession. I have been politically
involved in chiropractic since my early years in
practice. So naturally when
NYK started, we extended our services and
technology to chiropractic associations and groups.
Currently
NYK serves
more associations and groups than anyone. We do this
without any monetary compensation because we care about
chiropractic and have a desire to serve. Other
technology companies have jumped in and tried to copy us
by offering to host association websites. The difference
is that our offer was not based upon a business
decision, but rather a true desire to help our
profession. Here again, our involvement in the
leadership of chiropractic organizations gives a
practical perspective as to what is needed to help an
association. To this goal
NYK has just released a next generation
association website. The new features are designed to
give associations what is needed to help them better
serve their chiropractic membership. A sample of this
can be seen at:
www.marylandchiro.com.

In keeping with this
desire to help chiropractic we have also created this
newsletter, which is often the first to bring important
and breaking stories to the profession. The
Information Age newsletter has been a key and
timely news outlet for many breaking issues in
chiropractic. No other company takes the time and effort
to offer this free service. We do so, again, because we
care.
The bottom line here is
that we ARE chiropractors who have been involved
in chiropractic for decades.
Now You Know is not a technology
company that tries to sell technology to chiropractors.
We are a chiropractic company that uses
technology to spread the chiropractic message. We do
this for your practice, and for ours, for your
community, and for ours, and because of a genuine desire
to change the world so that it is a better place for
your children and family, as well as ours.
