18, 2011 - Happy Birthday Chiropractic In This Issue:
USDE Gets Massive Responses from Concerned Chiropractors on CCE In unprecedented numbers, individual chiropractors and associations have sent comments to the US Department of Education voicing their concerns about the Council of Chiropractic education. The uproar comes as a result of the CCE ignoring the thousands of comments made by the profession during the comment period when the CCE was discussing a change in their standards, thus removing many of the unique chiropractic requirements in education. In so doing, the CCE even ignored their own guidelines committee which disagreed with the CCE Council's recommended standards changes. Ultimately, the CCE Council followed their own pre-set agenda and voted to change the CCE educational standards, thus ignoring the schools, the profession, and their own committee. This brought a strong and loud outcry from the profession. The CCE, like any other regulatory body, must itself stand for reaccredidation. The CCE is accredited by the US Department of Education, and that accreditation comes up for renewal at the end of this year. A hearing will be held on December 16-18 in Washington, DC., and many groups, including the International Chiropractors Association, and the Georgia Council of Chiropractic, have planned to attend and speak on the issues. Details on how concerned chiropractors can participate, or be part of the gallery at these meetings is forthcoming. Social media has been buzzing with this subject, with the Facebook page "CCE URGENT Massive Complaint Campaign" having over 9000 members. This number represents about 20 percent of the US practicing population of chiropractors. Not since the days of Medicare inclusion in the early 70's, has such a mobilization of this high a percentage of the chiropractic population taken place. Recently, an online petition has been started that petitions the USDE to "Revoke accreditation authority of the Council of Chiropractic Education". In the first day, the petition received over 2000 signatures. This immediate and negative reaction speaks loudly to the mood of the profession concerning the CCE. Click here for the online petition. Now You Know Introduces New Adjustable Website Templates Now You Know will be introducing New 3rd Generation ADJUSTable Website Templates in the coming month that will be the most advanced and versatile websites in chiropractic. These websites will allow doctors to shape and design almost every portion of their site by rearranging components, sections, and modules. In addition to the amazing versatility, this site will be fully integratable with social media and search engine optimization. The new themes will also have new graphics, colors, and navigations using the most advanced designs available. What this all means for the doctor is the ability to "adjust" their website to make it a truly unique expression of their office. Doctors can add modules for entire new sections and features, as well as social media sections directly on the site. In addition to this, new patients will be able to fill out their intake forms securely online with management programs integrated into the site, such as Chiro-Touch and others that offer that function. All this is added to the best content in chiropractic, with over 800 pages of searchable articles designed to give you credibility and stimulate referrals. All the features of NYK were developed with the needs of practicing chiropractors in mind. That why we say that we are, "For Chiropractors, By Chiropractors." The new ADJUSTable website features are groundbreaking by themselves, but additionally, those who have a NYK website also get the in-office Chiropractic News Service (CNS) to play in their waiting room. The CNS is available separately for $39.95 per month, or is included free-of-charge for NYK website subscribers. Subluxation Awareness Moving Forward The month of September has been declared "Subluxation Awareness Month" and kicks off an ongoing year-round campaign of public education and outreach on subluxation. Several Chiropractic organizations have joined in, including the International Chiropractors Association, the Georgia Council of Chiropractic, and the Florida Chiropractic Society. September was chosen because the first chiropractic adjustment for subluxation was given on September 18, 1895, in Davenport Iowa.
The Gov. of Georgia, Nathan Deal, signed a proclamation officially making September "Subluxation Awareness Month." A copy of the Governor's Subluxation Awareness Proclamation can be seen by clicking on the thumbnail to the right or here. The website for the Subluxation Awareness Foundation can be found at: www.subluxationawareness.org. In the coming weeks, a steering committee will plan out the ongoing process of creating materials that doctors can use in their offices and communities to educate the pubic on subluxations and gain exposure for themselves and their offices. Subluxation Awareness also has a Facebook page with updates and announcements that can be seen at www.facebook.com/subluxation. The Good, the Bad, and the Subluxated! - AKA - Chiropractic in the News
