ACA Officially Supports New Mexico’s Fight for Drug Rights The headline above comes from a September 14, 2012, article in The Chronicle of Chiropractic, by the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation. The article (link to article here) documents that the American Chiropractic Association has filed an Amicus Brief in support of the New Mexico Board of Chiropractic, that is appealing its court loss on drugs in chiropractic. The ACA Amicus Brief, (link here to copy of brief) contains the following: "The ACA seeks to file an Amicus Curiae Brief with the Court in order to outline the education, training and experience of Doctors of Chiropractic and how that education, training and experience supports allowing Doctors of Chiropractic, working in their own communities and States through their respective state legislatures and regulatory agencies, to determine their scope of practice." While never mentioning drugs, the ACA's brief supports the New Mexico Board of Chiropractic attempt to overturn the courts ruling which prevents drugs from being part of the practice of chiropractic. Click here to read the ICA press release on original court ruling. As a result of the ACA's actions, sources report that several prominent ACA current and former officials have resigned from the ACA in protest. The ACA attempts to explain their actions in a release on their website. Here is a link to that release. What Are Your Patients Reading?
