NYK Patient Lecture "Chiropractic and You" Now Available on CD-ROM

For the past several years, hundreds of doctors have been using a refined version of the lay lecture titled, "Chiropractic and You".  This lecture was a carefully thought-out compilation of thoughts and concepts from some of the best lay lectures by some of the most successful practitioners in our profession.  Literally, tens of thousands of patients from all over the nation have heard doctors give this visually stunning and well sequenced presentation.  For years, this presentation was only available on 35mm slides because a slide presentation was both effective and inexpensive.

Because of the decreased costs of both laptops and LCD projectors, Now You Know has introduced a fully animated CD version of our patient presentation "Chiropractic and You".  With this CD,  a laptop, and a projector, you can give one of the most stunning lay lecture presentations in chiropractic.  oslide01.JPG (11991 bytes)Literally wow your audience with stunning graphics while educating them on the essentials of chiropractic care.

The previous cost of our slide presentation was $179.95.  With the addition of the CD-Rom to the package we have raised the price to $180.00.  That's right, only 5 cents more!   With this you get the presentation Chiropractic and You, in both CD -Rom and 35mm slide formats, as well as an audio tape of the presentation being given live so that you can hear the sequence and timing of the lecture.

If you do new patient lectures, or if you do community speaking events, this is the perfect presentation to educate and stimulate your audience. If I had to pick one thing from my practices that was the biggest source of motivation and education for my patients, I would have to say that this lecture was it.  I could directly trace many of my practice referrals to this patient orientation. Not many presentation tools in chiropractic are so powerful yet so affordable.  To see thumbnails of the entire "Chiropractic and You" presentation, just go to our website at www.nowyouknow.net and click on the "Our Products" button on the top, then click on the "Chiropractic and You Presentation" button on the left.  You can order this dynamic program directly online.

For those who have previously purchased our slide presentation, our offer is even better.  If you have purchased the slide version of our patient lecture and would like to upgrade to add the CD-Rom to your previous purchase, you can do so for an additional 5 cents!  That's right, for only 5 pennies we will send you the CD-Rom you have been waiting for.  Previous purchasers of the slide lecture can get the CD-Rom by emailing your request with your address and phone number to: cdromlecture@nowyouknow.net .   This is just our way of saying thank you for your past support.

Where Can I Get Current News in Chiropractic?

Since the ICA introduced their new profession wide newspaper, "The Chiropractic Choice", our profession has had a quality vehicle for news and views from a perspective not previously available. From the publication's start, just two issues ago, Now You Know has been a major advertiser and we have been extremely pleased with the results.

What you may not be aware of is that Now You Know does the website for this new publication which can be seen at www.thechiropracticchoice.com.  But if a bi-monthly publication is just not current enough, the ICA has been producing a weekly email news-broadcast known as the, "Chiropractic News Service" or "CNS" for short.  If you do not currently get a copy of this free publication you can get one by emailing your request to: chiro@chiropractic.org

If you want to see all the past issues of the CNS as well as issues shortly after they are released, you can do so on www.thechiropracticchoice.com where the CNS issues are all archived.  Just simply click on the link "Chiropractic News Service / ICA News" at the top of the home page.  You can also search for a subject by selecting the link, "Search for Articles in all the Archive on this Site" also at the top.

Internet Based Chiropractic Education?

The May 2002 • Volume 25 • Number 4 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) ran an interesting article on the possibility of Internet based learning for differential diagnosis in chiropractic education.  The article looked at similar models in other professions such as at the Center for Advanced Technology in Surgery at Stanford. The article states that at this center "it is anticipated that within 10 years surgeons will be selected, trained, and generally assisted to remain abreast of current clinical practice by use of simulations, virtual reality, and Web-based electronic learning."

The article raises and investigates the thought that if such an involved process of surgery can be partially taught using information technology, why couldn't certain portions of a chiropractic education not be also taught in this way. Presently many chiropractic colleges are working on "distance learning programs" for both postgraduate Continuing education programs as well as certain core curriculum and undergraduate classes.  Presently, most states that have CE credit requirements require that most, if not all, of those credits be attended in person.  However, the trend is heading more toward having some portion of the required hours be allowable via the Internet on distance learning programs.

The JMPT article conclusion is quite astute in that it recognizes that chiropractic education has become extremely costly and that technology can offer a cost effective solution for a portion of the program.  The authors of the JMPT article state that with certain precautions, " information technology can constitute a cost-effective approach to the preparation of competent and safe chiropractic physicians, while serendipitously providing learners with the knowledge and skill to undertake lifelong learning in the information age."

At Now You Know, we agree with the proliferation of Internet based learning.  We know from practical experience with hundreds of offices and tens of thousands of patients that this form of high-tech education is very effective for patient education.

Great Programs Coming Up

Never before can I remember such an array of great programs available for chiropractors to attend.  In addition to the ones we have reviewed in the past I also wanted to mention several that we have not featured before. One such program that is getting great reviews is Dr. Tom Morgan's Volume Practice Seminar. The next installment of this program will be September 28, 2002, Drury Inn, Virginia Ave. at the Atlanta Airport. For more information you can call Dr. Morgan at 404 761-4900 or email him at VolumeDC@aol.com .

An educational license renewal program which I am proud to be a part of is the new Chiropractic Without A Doubt program (CWAD). This program is gaining momentum and is getting great reviews.  The next installment on this program will be in Philadelphia on August 17-18, 2002.  If you live in Pennsylvania and need to get your credits this month, this would be a great opportunity to go to a program that is actually exciting while you get your needed credit hours.

I would be remiss if I did not also mention one of the most fun programs I attend regularly.  I'm speaking of the New Beginnings programs.  I highly recommend these moving programs for every chiropractor.  If you have never been to one, you are missing a real principled chiropractic experience.  You can learn about these programs on their web site at www.newbeginningschiro.com.
