CELEBRATION OF CHIROPRACTIC
AND THE COMMON WORKER
Dr. Jim Dubel
It has been known by many different names
– Worker’s Day, Labor Day, the last big weekend of the summer – and
sadly, once Labor Day passes we put the summer clothes away, drain the
swimming pools and fountains, and start to batten down the hatches for
“Labor Day differs in every essential way
from the other holidays of the year in any country,” notes Samuel Gompers,
founder and longtime president of the American Federation of Labor. “All
other holidays are [to some degree] connected with conflicts and battles
of man’s prowess over man, of strife and discord for greed and power, of
glories achieved by one nation over another. Labor Day … is devoted to no
man, living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation.”
The holiday is a creation of the labor
movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of
American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the
contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity and
well-being of the country.
The first Labor Day was celebrated on
Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the
plans of the Central Labor Union. In 1884, the first Monday in September
was selected to be the annual holiday, and the idea spread with the
growth of labor organizations. In 1885, Labor Day was celebrated in many
industrial centers of the country.
Originally, Labor Day was to be celebrated
with a street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de
corps of the trade and labor organizations” of the community, followed by
a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their
families. In recent years, the celebration has undergone a change,
especially in large industrial centers where mass displays and huge
parades have proved a problem. The change is more a shift in emphasis and
medium of expression. Addresses by leading union officials,
industrialists, educators, clerics and government officials are given
wide coverage in the media.
The vital force of American labor has
added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest
production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the
realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political
democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute to
the creators of so much of the nation’s strength, freedom, and leadership
– the American worker.
As you and your family gather for this
celebration, may you find comfort and joy in knowing that America still
has the strongest, most stable economy in the world. We, as
Chiropractors, are a major part of this hard working, economic strength …
thanks to those who work for the principles of chiropractic and the
common good every day.
You might say that Chiropractic was not as
effective for Scott. That is, if Chiropractic was about chasing pain and
symptoms. What we hadn’t heard from Scott was what his wife reported to
us when she sought us out at a social event to personally thank us for
the incredible difference that we had made in her husband’s life. She
spoke of how before receiving Chiropractic care he would come home from
work and be too tired or just not feel like playing with his two young
children and how since being under our care he was like a whole new
person. He is now a Dad who comes home and enjoys his family. She thanked
us for giving him and his family a new quality of life. Scott still has
some occasional pain and discomfort in his mid-back. What a wonderful
thing it is that Chiropractic is about so much more.
Have a relaxing, safe Labor Day

David was born with Spina Bifida of the
skull. Born with his brain exposed-His aunt, a chiropractor, called me
and asked if I would go to the hospital to adjust him as they only gave
him 2 days to live.
Without hesitancy, I went and adjusted his
atlas. 2 days went by, 2 weeks went by, 2 months went by (he was being
adjusted 3x per week), they said, " Take him home….Let him die at home.”
I kept adjusting him 3x per week and each day his brain slowly went back
into the cranium and he was able to have a plate put on the rear of his
skull. 7 1/2 years later Baby David is alive with only eye problems as he
can only see from the top of his eyes (head is flexed and he looks
through the top of his eyes).
His adjustment was only on the right side
as that was the only way his head could turn. Innate knows best. Where
there is life, there is hope. Chiropractic always increases life when the
interference is removed. When you don't treat the symptoms of the disease
- Chiropractic delivered correctly will enhance and accelerate life.

I ‘d like a moment to share with you a
miraculous change in my life.
I had lower back pain along with
uncontrollable bladder functions. As the pain increased, the lack of
bladder control also got progressively worse. As a twenty-six year old
woman, this is very embracing.
I went to one of those many advertised
health care clinics. I was told that I would have to undergo a complete
reconstruction of my urinary tract. For the pain they gave me an
A relative introduced me to Chiropractic
and Dr. La Rocca. It was then that my ailment was properly diagnosed. I
had a slight curvature of my lower spine. Pinched nerves in my spine were
inflicting my ailment.
After a few adjustments, I regained
complete self-control and function of my bladder.
No operation and no unnecessary
Also I discovered that the sight in my
right eye had returned. Years ago, twelve to be exact, I was told that I
had an eye disease and the diagnosis was eventually blindness. I believed
this and failed to mention this to Dr. La Rocca.
During my treatments through a magnificent
occurrence my sight was completely restored. I no longer have a
restricted driver’s license. I passed the vision test with 100% accuracy.
Healthy and healed by the gracious healing
“with the hands” of the Chiropractor.
